Range Description
This species is known from central and southern China, including from Taiwan, Province of China, and Hong Kong. It has been recorded from 150-1,100m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It inhabits seepages, low-gradient streams, ditches, pools and marshes in forested areas. It can also be found in human-modified habitats such as roadside ditches in forested areas.
Population
In mainland China and Taiwan, Province of China, it is very common, but in Hong Kong, it is considered to be rare.

Habitat destruction and degradation are major threats to this species, in particular agriculture and the construction of dams.
