Southwest corner of Western Australia. From the Murchison River south-east to Pallinup River. Also on Rottnest Island. The extent of occurrence of the species is approximately 152700 km2

Life History, Abundance, Activity, and Special Behaviors
Associated with permanent water - streams, swamps, lagoons, farm dams and ponds. Hides beneath bark, logs or other large objects. Spring breeder. Spawn clumps are laid as a large floating mass attached to vegetation.

No known declines and extent of occurrence > 20,000km2.
