This species is known only from the type locality (Isla Grande in Menendez Lake, 42° 40'S; 71° 51'W), an island completely protected in Parque Nacional Los Alerces, Chubut Province, Argentina. It occurs at 500m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It can be found in very humid temperate forest dominated by Nothofagus. Its breeding habitat is not known, but it may breed within small temporary pools. It is not known whether or not it can occur in modified habitats.
This species is locally common within its restricted range.
There are no current threats at the type locality, but its restricted range renders it susceptible to stochastic threatening processes.
The population occurs in a highly protected area in Parque Nacional Los Alerces. There is a need for close population monitoring of this species given its restricted range.
