Range Description

This species is known from Serra do Japí, and Serra da Mantiqueira, and from Serra Paranapiadaba and Rodovia Mogi-Bertioga in Serra do Mar, in São Paulo State, southeastern Brazil. It occurs above 800m asl.

Habitat and Ecology

This species occurs on vegetation or on the forest leaf-litter near waterbodies in primary and secondary forest. It breeds in permanent streams. It has not been recorded from anthropogenic habitats.

Population

It is a common species.

Major Threats

Habitat loss and degradation due to clear-cutting of forests and infrastructure development are threats to this species.

Conservation Actions

The range of the species includes several protected areas. Conservation and maintenance of its habitat is needed. More research into the species' Extent of Occurrence is desirable.

Taxonomic Notes

This species was previously within the genus Hyla but has recently been moved to the genus Bokermannohyla (Faivovich, et al., 2005).
