Range Description

This species is known only from Beiyang, Lichuan in Hubei Province and Mabian County in Sichuan Province, China, at around 1,830m asl. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between the two known sites.

Habitat and Ecology

This species inhabits marshes in forested, mountainous areas. It breeds in pools where the larvae also develop.


It is very rare.

The major threat to this species is forest loss due to small-scale agriculture and human settlement.

The population of this species in Hubei Province is probably within Lichuanxiaoheshuisha Nature Reserve.
