Bufotes turanensis
family: Bufonidae
Taxonomic Notes: This diploid species is thought to have been involved in the origins of tetraploid B. pewzowi by hybridization with diploid B. turanensis, with tetraploid B. oblongus by an independent hybridization event with B. turanensis, and with triploid B. baturae by yet a third hybridization event with B. turanensis (see several publications by Stoeck and coauthors: Evolution 2006 Mol Phyl Evo, 2010 Evol, 2012 PRSB, 2015 Heredity, 2015 J Biog.).

Species Description: Stoeck, M., Moritz, C., Hickerson, M., Frynta, D., Dujsebayeva, T., Eremchenko, V., Macey, J.R., Papenfuss, T.J. and Wake, D.B. 2006.
