This species is currently known only from Zadam (Tzada), in Xizang (Tibet), in western China at 2,900m asl (Fei et al., 1999). It is likely to occur more widely.
Habitat and Ecology
This species lives in high-elevation wetlands, such as ponds and marshes, and in surrounding meadows and grassland. It breeds in water by larval development.

It probably occurs in the Zhadatulin Nature Reserve. Research is needed to determine its population numbers, range, threats and conservation needs.
