This species is known only from the type locality, São Vicente, in São Paulo State, Brazil.
Habitat and Ecology
There is no information known regarding its habitat preferences or ecological requirements. However, other species within its taxonomic group breed in ponds.
It has only been collected once, so its population status is not known. It is very similar to other species in its taxonomic group in the surrounding region.
Deforestation is presumably a threat to this species, although there is not enough information known at present to determine its major threats.
The taxonomic status of this species within its taxonomic group needs to be resolved.
This species was previously within the genus Hyla but has recently been moved to the resurrected genus Dendropsophus (Faivovich et al. 2005). This form might not be a valid species (Rodrigues pers. comm.).
