This species occurs on the southeastern coast of Papua New Guinea between Yule Island and Dogura, where it is relatively widespread. It is generally a lowland species, probably ranging from sea-level up to 1,100m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
It occurs in open, coastal tropical savannahs. It breeds in still water.
It is a common species.
There are no known threats. Its habitat is unlikely to be at risk from existing or foreseeable impacts.
Its distribution needs to be better documented. It is not known from any protected areas.
