From the IUCN Red List Species Account:

Range Description

This species is known from just two localities in north-central Kenya: Loiengalani on the south-eastern shores of Lake Turkana, and Uaso Nyiro River in the Samburu Game Reserve. It presumably occurs more widely.

Habitat and Ecology

The two known localities are in arid semi-desert regions with nearby permanent water (in one case a lake, in the other, a river). The breeding site at Loiengalani appears to be the lake. It is presumed to breed in water by larval development.

Population

There is no information on its population status. There do not appear to be any recent records, presumably because of lack of herpetological work within its range.

Population Trend

Unknown

Major Threats

There is no information on threats to this species.

Conservation Actions

It occurs in at least one protected area, the Samburu Game Reserve. Research is required on this species' distribution, population status, ecology and threats.
