Habitat and Ecology
The species occurs on vegetation above large ponds or lakes in open vegetation or at the edge of forests. It breeds in permanent ponds and lakes. The water is usually deep, never shallow. It is not known from anthropogenic habitats.
It is a common species.
Drainage of waters for mosquito management and the application of insecticides to kill mosquitoes is a threat to the species. This is also occurring within protected areas.
The range of the species includes several protected areas. More research into the species' Extent of Occurrence and ecological requirements is needed. The effect of mosquito controls on the population also needs to be investigated.
