This species is known from the valley of the Rio Doce in the state of Minas Gerais, in southeastern Brazil. It has been recorded from 300-600m asl.
Habitat and Ecology
This species occurs on low vegetation in primary and secondary forest at the edge of lakes where it also breeds. It has not been recorded outside forest.
It is a common species.
Habitat loss due to clear-cutting of forests, agricultural encroachment and infrastructure development is a threat to this species.
The range of the species includes at least two protected areas. More research into the species' Extent of Occurrence, ecological requirements and population status is needed.
